Strangely yes, my writing does nag at me. Sometimes that means I will go days without sleep while I write and then go to work and then come back home and write some more. Other times it means I make vaguely flailing motions at my family to let them know I'm still alive and should ignore the mess/smell coming from my office (old tea, stale smoke, and half eaten meals).

I'm starting into one of those phases right now. Between the research (which has eaten up most of my paper and ink supplies) and the fact that I'm running out of room on The Idea Wall (an actual wall in my house which has seen more coats of paint and that putty stuff used to fill holes in dry wall than the rest of the walls in my house combined). I'm actually looking forward to the sleepless-isolated weeks of frantic writing that will come if I can ever come up with a viable outline.

I miss those days. I did it for art and writing alike, all through growing up and into college.

Am a parent now, so I can't get away with it so much. Not so much that I say "I'm not allowed" so much as I literally can't--I am going to get interrupted if someone needs me, I do have to provide dinner, my spouse will make me go to bed because I have to be functional to make the other stuff happen, and also, because he will start missing me after a while.

But yeah, the drive is there, and tends to make me cranky at everyone.

Very funny. =D
Honestly, I tend to think of it more on terms of CATCH THIS AND PIN IT DOWN IN WORDS BEFORE IT GETS AWAY DAMMIT. Because ADD means get it now or forget it 2 seconds later, so that's where my sense of urgency comes from. Writing isn't so much a siren's call as a junkie's fix and if I could have it animated instead, I'd leap to that in a heartbeat.

No one's done the members only post yet? Oh hell, I'll throw something up.

haha yes, this happens to me too. Especially when I get ideas at work or other busy times. It can be frustrating if I don't take notes quickly.

Sometimes, though not much when I'm writing regularly. Often it'll be at times when I'm either busy with work or in a place where I can't easily drop everything and write. Also when I'm meant to be sleeping is a prime time for writing ideas to start bugging me. Though honestly I prefer those times to the opposite, when I feel drained of creative motivation and ideas.

I have a number of things that I do which require regular maintenance behavior, try as I might to automate some of the details to stand neglect longer, or simply to give up on certain variations which are just too finicky to bear being ignored for a stretch of time. This is because I tend to swing through different phases, working obsessively on one thing while all the other things get smacked into the closet or wherever for awhile*, and continue to shout at me from behind the door. If I'm digging and hauling in the garden outside, I feel guilty about not writing. If I'm writing, I feel guilty about not cleaning the fish tank or the bathroom or something.**
When I'm a mad typing fiend trapped in the throes of a live fighting story, wrassling with it like I'm trying to pull in a monster Mississippi catfish, the guilt is less. But that's just I don't even have the focus to look at the mess the backyard has become with the wisteria eating the a/c unit on top of the house. (Yes, really.)
The last time I went on one of those horrendous writing jags, I was putting out about a chapter every two days and not sleeping a lot, and ripping through my leave time at work, and scribbling notes on the way to and fro, and generally not communicating with my family. I end up eating all wrong and sitting at my computer for too many hours (both of those have SRS health consequences) and end up blinking out of it days later trying to figure out why I've wrecked myself like that.
I'm not sure you could call that "nagging," on the part of my muse. It's more like the muse is slamming me up against the wall repeatedly. "Get this? And this?"
Yes, thank you, got it, can I fall over now??

*Well, except cleaning up for the cats. That is a chore you must not neglect, ever.
**Sigh.
