Today I drew a map of the settled areas of a planetary colony for a story I'm writing. Anybody else like drawing maps? I had a cool guide to drawing a map of an entire created planet, figuring out where the continental plates were and stuff, but I can't find it now. I'd love to see other worldbuilding resources, if anyone has any they like.

Meeee. I just bought a big square-ruled book for drawing maps and buildings. Love it. I was also researching for a book on making maps yesterday. XD They are all too expensive, though. DX

Not a map, but I *have* just spent several days drawing building plans (tracing out the evolution of a particular building over several centuries of use in order to get an idea of what it plausibly ends up looking like).

Soooort of! *grins* If you took a hall like Lofotr or Gammel Lejre, scaled up about 50% on account of being built for a non-human ruler, and then gave it a few centuries of being used as a royal residence by a broadly-Celtic-analogue, broadly-human society, that's what I'm looking at. (I have been referring to it as the bastard offspring of the Lofotr hall and Hampton Court Palace).

I also have drawn a map for my current WIP :3 I've never done anything like that before, but it was so much fun and is really helpful when I'm writing about locations—I can pull the map out to remind me of where things are in relation to each other.

I love maps, but I only really tried fantasy cartography once, with an old photoshop tutorial I found on youtube. The results were pretty good, and I kept threatening to do at least 2 more of the other 4 faery "empires" but it never happened--at least, not so far.
